On the eastern edge of Uganda, rising above the lush African landscape, stands Mount Elgon—an ancient, extinct volcano whose fertile slopes have nurtured generations of coffee farmers.
Here, in the cool mountain air, Arabica coffee grows slowly at high elevations, developing the complexity and character that make this region one of Uganda's celebrated coffee-growing areas.
Coffee farming on Mount Elgon is deeply rooted in local communities. Much of the region's coffee is cultivated by smallholder farmers who carefully tend their trees and harvest ripe coffee cherries by hand. Their dedication, combined with the mountain's mineral-rich volcanic soils and favorable climate, creates the foundation for an exceptional cup.
